Jardim Colombo Pandemic Memorial
The Jardim Colombo Memorial is a research project by the School of Health from University of São Paulo in partnership with the residents of Jardim Colombo, aiming at documenting memories of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the Territory
After engaging with various actors, initially through informal exploratory conversations and later through formal recorded interviews, we identified the need for a space in which we could dialogue on health issues in Jardim Colombo, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Workshops
To reflect on and propose actions aimed at addressing this need, we proposed the creation of audiovisual production workshops focusing on the COVID-19 pandemic and other health-related topics. We established a space for sharing techniques in audiovisual media and social media, capable of contributing to the identification of community demands regarding their experiences during the pandemic and their health needs.
Collectivity
By creating this space for dialogue and joint production with the residents, we share with them ways to record and publicize their experiences, which will be preserved on this website (created for this purpose).
During the meetings, various topics and situations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the right to health, and relationships with political entities to fully enjoy this right were also discussed in a horizontal and dialogical manner.
We are building this space for dialogue with the residents of Jardim Colombo because we believe that planning responses to future pandemics must consider the concrete reality of the favelas through their residents.
